Crazy fact - the 🐐 Michael Phelps has a story in his autobiography about how in the 4 years leading up to the Olympics in which he won 8 golds that he didn’t take days off. 4 years, no days off. However an interviewer challenged him on this once. He said surely there must of been things outside of your control and Phelps said yes there was a power outage once and we had to swim in darkness and consequently it fine tuned my stroke counting. Years later in the final of the 200m butterfly in the Olympics after diving in he found that by 50m one goggle was filled with water and by 100m both goggles were filled with water and he was swimming blind, he used the experience gained from swimming in the darkness that time years before to finish the last 100 and take gold. #truestory👊 #promeansfororinfavorof

You know what to do, you always have done. It’s the 2 rules that make it tricky, 1 starting & 2 continuing 😁. Today I got to experience an overwhelming sense of gratitude after having to speak my truth around a situation thats went on far to long. Getting to this point was no easy task and made much more difficult by.. you guessed it. myself! However as soon as the action was taken, the relief came, the gratitude came and the energy came. The energy to use where is better placed in order to help in the ways i am meant to be helping. I believe. It’s strange how all these fears come in right before taking that step, all completely irrational. I mean what’s the worst that can happen? If you have the big man upstairs in your life, there is no problems really. Sometimes you don’t get what you want, you get what you need. A mouth full of water in this case. If it happens while your breathing you may end up coughing, although did you know you can cough under the water and keep going without missing a beat in your stroke. It’s resisting the urge to stop and stand up that’s the trick. However if it happens on the next attempt to take a breath, that’s a different story. Stop in that case and get you breath back. Most of the times this very common problem can be fixed by rotating more in the hips, possibly even a little bit more with the head. The pros breathe in the bow wave with one goggle submerged. What is Passion? For me it’s when you care greatly about something, the results it’s producing etc. So, a few weeks back I got speaking to woman (mid 30s) for the first time about learning to swim as an adult here in London. She told me how she had gone to one of the largest lesson providers in the UK and had received 50 + group lessons and around 20 individual lessons and her progress was. Couldn’t comfortably blow into the water, couldn’t swim, couldn’t breathe while swimming and because of this she of course could not go near deep water. And the progress of the other 11 in her group during those lessons. Same. This seems way off, What was being taught during these lessons ? The lady believed that this was purely her poor ability and nothing to do with the teaching. How many 1000s of these type of lessons are delivered per week?? (Pre covid) What about actually teaching individuals to swim? #rantover #pissed

Not much going on here! If wanting to swim freestyle for a long period keep the kick light. Almost a feathering of the water or a flutter kick. Less is more with kicking. Kick hard and quads burn up all the oxygen and then you are exhausted, very quickly too. Even the great Ian thorpe who had a thunderous leg kick! when analysed it was only contributing 13% of the propulsion. Breathe 🧘‍♂️ for swimming the inhale is mouth only however from what I understand in Yoga they teach nose only inhale. Why? Be great to hear from some Yogis. What temp should the pool be? It depends, although if it does not feel cold when you get in then it’s too warm. The exercise of swimming will increase the core temp and abracadabra your nice and toastie. FYI - Normal pool temps are around 28 degrees , competition pools are around 26 degrees (they dont want the athletes overheating) & baby swimming pools should be @30 - 32 degrees. #pooltemp #pooltemperature #swimmingpools #ifitsnotcoldwhenyougetinitstoowarm #swimmers #water #waterislife
